Production in Rathenow
Operations at the production and logistics centre in Rathenow were expanded
further in the 2003 financial year. Industrial production, logistics and the service
division are concentrated in Rathenow. The branches are connected to the logistics
centre online and spectacles ordered are delivered overnight. With its own production
facilities, Fielmann can safeguard control of the flow of goods along the entire output chain.
In addition to the benefits in terms of quality, the new centre has made a significant contribution to operating profits.
The expandable facility has provided the foundation that will be required for dynamic growth
in volume and the expansion of Fielmann’s international business.
In 2003, over 4 million spectacles in all finishing stages were manufactured in Rathenow.
The centre supplied over 6.4 million spectacles. In the year under review, 50 per cent
of all German spectacles came from Rathenow. The new production and logistics centre achieved
sales of €40 million. With a staff of 701, we are the largest employer in the town.
